Bangkok– In a spectacular launch at the Government House, Thailand’s Prime Minister, H.E. Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, along with the National Soft Power Strategy Committee, unveiled the upcoming Thailand Winter Festivals, a month-long celebration from November through December. This initiative highlights Thailand's cultural and creative assets to cement its status as a leading global event destination.
Under the "7 Wonders of Thailand" theme, the series features diverse events across Thailand, orchestrated by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports through the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in collaboration with public and private partners.
Prime Minister Shinawatra emphasized the pivotal role of tourism as an economic driver, promoting job creation, income distribution, and global engagement. She underscored the government’s commitment to "IGNITE Thailand TOURISM," leveraging the nation’s cultural soft power to boost the economy sustainably and position Thailand as a world-class festival hub.
Key Festival Themes and Highlights
1.Loi Krathong Festival – Traditional celebrations take place nationwide, with notable events in Bangkok (13-16 November), Sukhothai (8-18 November), and Chiang Mai (14-17 November).
2.Countdown Events – New Year’s festivities, including the Amazing Thailand Countdown 2025 (28 December - 1 January) and centralwOrld Countdown, Bangkok (31 December), offer fireworks, music, and cultural experiences.
3.Sports Events – Major athletic events include the Bangsaen 42 Marathon, Chon Buri (3 November) and Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok (1 December).
4.Cultural Events – Noteworthy cultural festivals such as the Surin Elephant Round-Up (14-25 November) and Sakon Nakhon Christmas Star Parade (20-25 December) showcase Thailand's regional heritage.
5.Food Festivals – Celebrations of Thai culinary art, like the Food Festi ‘ver’ in Bangkok (11-15 December) and Northern Coffee Gathering in Chiang Mai (29 November - 1 December).
6.Music Festivals – Diverse music events, including Wonderfruit, Chon Buri (12-16 December), and Rolling Loud Thailand, Pattaya (22-24 November).
7.Lighting & Illumination Festivals – Enchanting light displays at events like Awakening Bangkok (8-17 November) and Vijit Chao Phraya 2024 in Bangkok (16 November - 15 December).
TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool expressed optimism about the festivals’ impact on Thailand’s reputation as a festive and culturally rich destination. The event series is expected to boost international tourism, solidifying Thailand's place on the global tourism map.
